Grand Bahamais the northernmost of the islands of theBahamas, and the closest major island to theUnited States, lying 86 kilometres (53mi) off ofPalm Beach, Florida. It is the fourth largest island in the Bahamas island chain of approximately 700 islands and 2,400 cays.Administratively, the island consists of theFreeport Bonded Areaand the districts ofEast Grand BahamaandWest Grand Bahama.It's famed for its beaches, reef-lined coves and mangrove swamps, as well as its all-inclusive resorts and golf courses.
